Jainta Mantar: This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site reflecting the advancement in medieval Indian astronomy. All the instruments are precisely and scientifically designed. The Ram Yantras used for gauging altitudes is a wonder. This is the largest of the five observatories founded by Sawai Jai Singh-II. Hawa Mahal: This palace was built by the poet king Sawai Pratap Singh for the palace women so that they can watch the royal processions at the bazaar below. A view from the Sireh Deorhi Bazaar reveals a five story high backside with delicate stone carved jali screens. Nahargarh and Amber Forts: Nahargarh along with Amber formed a strong defense ring for Jaipur. Nahagarh rises on the edge of the Aravalli hills having an interesting network of corridors and some delicate frescos. It was built mainly in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Amber is a palace complex with a unique artistic style, blending both Hindu and Muslim elements constructed of white and red sandstone. It was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber in 1727, who through the expertise of Vidyadar Bhattacharya created a layout of the city.  Thus becoming the first planned city of India.  Today it is a major business centre. It was Sawai Ram Singh who decided to paint the whole city pink in preparation for the Prince of Wales visit in 1853. City Palace: This historic landmark is an amazing work of art embellished with floral motifs in the walls and marble columns, and guarded by two elephants carved in marble at the entrance. The Museum inside has an interesting display of various collection of Rajasthani dresses, armory and swords of Mughal and Rajput rulers, etc. The Art Gallery houses rare astronomical works in Arabic, Persian, Latin and Sanskrit acquired by Sawai Jai Singh-II and several paintings, carpets and royal paraphernalia.
