Jodhpur the second largest city of Rajasthan has been set at the edge of Thar Desert and thus called a ‘Gateway to Thar Desert’. History: This imperial city was established in 1459 A.D. by the chief of Rathore clan- Rao Jodha and was once been a capital of Mewar state. It accommodates some of the best ancient architectural works, historically significant places, gracefully detailed temples and much more.  Tourist Attractions: One such fascinating place is Mehrangarh fort, this massive 15th century old structure emerging on the top of a rocky mountain gliding 125Mts above the plains. Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Pool Mahal and Zenana Deodi are included in this fort being the major features of it with this the fort also comprises a Mehrangarh fort museum with a gallery that accommodates a huge collection of beautiful palanquins, fine arts, weaponry with the Turban gallery, the Umaid Bhavan Palace Museum and the Government Museum in the Umed Garden are yet another places to witness such antique and ancient items. The city is encircled by a high wall and around 10km long comprising 8 gates and myriad of citadels.
